Whoa writing

Wow I didn't realize how much I could write about this until I started oops.

Wrote a pinch-hit for Rarewomen 2014, which is hosted on AO3. I just realized how long it's been since I posted anything to AO3. I'm gonna change that at some point. (Maybe over the week of non-school that I have? I know I posted a couple things here that I mostly didn't because IDK AO3 feels too fancy to go in without a beta-reader.)

(Despite actually having I think two or more potential beta-readers here who are in the same fandom, for once. Sorry if anyone would have wanted to do that, I was told I had about 24 hours so I.... probably should have been even more keen to ask for a once-over *hangs head*)

I'll add a description and link after I'm sure everything's been unmasked or whatever because, like, I feel kind of stupid about this whole thing without accidentally breaking rules.

What's going on in the world of that original thing that I've been working on for like at least the last two or three NaNoWriMos? Editing. Endless editing. I found a graphic on Tumblr (apparent source) that I feel sums everything up really nicely:

If only there were some quantifiable way to do a "National Novel Editing Month." I mean yeah, even if you could set a goal it'd just make your editing worse if you couldn't get there, but really 90% of NaNoWriMo is the ability to say, "Can you do the dishes? I have to write my novel," or, "I'm sorry I can't go out, I have to keep writing," or, "Whoops, spent too long on Tumblr, have to go write for the rest of the day." But you can't really edit on a deadline, so it's harder to set aside time for it.

But I'm gonna try to do it. And I'm gonna really tentatively say that if you really want to read "act 1" when I finish editing that, you can ask, and I will probably say no because like it's not even done yet and IDK if I actually want to open the door to actual criticism on this run. But if you want in on it then say so and if nothing else you'll probably be first on the list of people who will be given access to the closed beta.

I almost forgot to sign up for the HSWC. I'd been all on the fence about Team Noir or not--I knew it would be for the best, but then like a week ago I was like, "No I'm gonna pick a theme team, do we have a Team Ashen Romance yet?" but then I never did my research or the good teams I found were going to be pitifully-staffed if at all, so I didn't make a choice, and then they closed for everyone but Team Noir.

If you're interested, you should definitely sign up. Team Noir is obligation-free, you're just there to do, like, voting and bonus rounds, if you want. You'll also be more likely to know when everything's up, and then you can read like, way more fanfic than you actually have time for, ever. They get really multimedia, too--make a folder now for the downloadable games, if you're gonna.

But yeah seriously Team Noir hell yeah. There isn't really a reason not to (unless you, like, completely aren't in the fandom, or hate being on DreamWidth, or are vehemently opposed to literally all shipping of every kind) so I'm gonna suggest that if you're not sure go for it.
