I saw Star Trek and if there was one thing I liked it was the fact that I can now make a big deal over "the tribble that saved the day!" Otherwise, good acting, pretty film, wish it wasn't Khan, wish Uhura had more effect on the end outcome of the main plot (Kirk worked with Khan, Spock found out how dangerous Khan was, Bones figured out the tribble, Scotty discovered the other ship, Checkov ran the ship without Scotty--Sulu's beautiful bluff might not have been too significant in the end, but it looked so successful, whereas Uhura's "I came to speak Klingon, I am going to speak Klingon" plan....) but in the end liked it anyway because I have simple tastes and why not?
Elementary was kind of ridiculous but I don't care I loved it. Irene's thing looked really interesting at first and now I'm just. The--IDK I feel like there should be a distinction so I'm going to insist on calling her Moriadler now because I can--the Moriadler thing is a really interesting development and I know that it's sort of trite or something, like some soap opera shit up in this, but at the same time, IDK. It's not one I've seen a lot recently so I don't mind, and I just liked a lot of things about the execution. Watson saved the day! And Sherlock named a bee after her holy shit words cannot describe how satisfyingI found that finale. Wow. The episode titles are "The Woman" for the first half and "Heroine" for the second half and hnnnngh it's melodramatic to say the least but I didn't think about it too hard and assumed that the "heroine" would be in the same vein as "The Woman" so it'd refer to Irene, right? But when you think about it it obviously refers to Joan and something about a dichotomy and it is so over-the-top but I am squeeing so hard
ETA: I also just made an F-locked post about it but I totally want to open this up?
I've been really not reading anything lately and I think I want to change that, but because of that I feel pretty out-of-the-loop on books right now, so I'd love it if anyone made any recommendations. Preferably not the thickest language (since I'm out of practice) but if it's worth reccing then it's worth me looking into it a bit more at least!
