Jan. 25th, 2013 09:24 pmTumblr changed its posting format.
I am glad I started getting back here when I did.
Of course I'm sure there are applications for it. A few people aren't complaining, though I suspect they have that "I determinedly like what others don't like" complex, not that I can judge on that. It's sort of fun, I guess, and--oh, that's it. It looks ~futuristic~ which is very hmmmm how do I say it? I don't like change, so it's not surprising that I don't like it, and even less surprising given how much I like to do new things on new pages and why would I want to write a text post with my dash in the background when that's just going to distract me?
But there are a lot of things to be said about looking futuristic; a lot of it is marketing, though at this point it seems to come with a lot more backlash than would be advisable. There is also a thing about progress; if you don't push the future envelope, sometimes things never change ever. (This is a bit more subjective in that sometimes you do reach the best point and changing things further only complicates things.)
The formatting, I think, makes it seem easier to make a lot of quick posts, very much encouraging a "no big deal" to it; however, in making the text space appear smaller (is this different on other computers?) and leaving the dashboard in the background, this makes things feel pressured to be kept short. "The dashboard is beckoning! I must return quickly!"
In general I don't like it and am really glad I got back to trying DreamWidth because this is a format that is easier for me to understand personally, even if reblogging is a pretty cool thing.
