Status update

This got really long, and long story short my current status appears to be "writing"
Round Robin Fanventures! This brings back memories. (I was on vacation and didn't bring my tablet and then that was announced and I was like "good job.") (Then I made a mobile but sigh I feel really shitty about that whole thing.)
I've done two fills already (in the same thread) and that.... might be all that I do. I started work for two more but meh; I don't feel like they'll be appreciated at all, which shouldn't be important but mostly I just think I have better ways to spend my time than frantically writing something before someone else does.
Convenient segue: What I would rather spend my time on is my original project. (I guess I have more than one of those but this is sort of The One at least right now.) Right now I'm mostly doing writing exercises to settle out the characters and their universe; the plot outline just feels like it's hit a point that's not going to be broken by more outline, so. (By "writing exercises" I mean "AUs"--right now it's a zombie AU, later there'll be some fanfic of other characters in this universe to break that in but that's almost guaranteed to never see the light of day, whereas the probable space AU won't be entirely embarrassing.)
I feel like after talking about this I should ask if anyone wants to see any of these products? Keeping in mind that a significant portion of this is remembering how to write long things/pace actual physical action things/write in anything other than second person. (*Shakes fist at Homestuck fandom*)
*Yet another vague call for beta-readers.* I guess I have at least one person and we seem pretty on-the-same-page and such, but apparently that is never enough. Or I guess more specifically if I started an access filter would it just be one person? (I think it'll mostly be on Google Drive but "access filter" still sounds like about the right term there so.)
Camp NaNoWriMo starts up in July and I'm totally going to do this original thing for it. Or more specifically more warmup/development things. Conveniently, I'll (presumably) have a new Trope Bingo card then so I'll have a list of things to do when I get bored. (Because that worked so well last time.)
Also I decided that at some point within the next year I'm going to take a semester off of school to focus on writing. Restrict my fanfiction writing, schedule time in the day, get off the social media and put some words down. Right now I feel like I could do it; I've felt a lot before like I'm incapable of managing my time that way, and I'm still not great but I'm getting better. At this rate I might even be able to find a day job that I feel capable of doing! [studio laughter]
That was a lot, sorry! Now please sit back and relax to Maru drinking cat tea! Maru's owner notes in the feed that this is "Matatabi tea (Tea for cats)." I haven't heard of it before and am now seriously curious!

NaNoWriMo, wow! I am always super impressed by people who do NaNo, because I've never even had the courage to try.
I might even be able to find a day job that I feel capable of doing!
If you do go job-seeking, best of luck! (And, uh, tell them to hire me, too? Heh.) It's tough, definitely.
I am going to have to Google that "Tea for cats" and see what it is; my curiosity is aroused!

Date: 2013-06-21 12:46 pm (UTC)Well, for July you can set it at whatever goal you wanted, so this could be a good place to start if you want.
I'm pretty sure I'm a long ways off from actually looking, but! Good luck to you if that's what you're doing now!
It looks like Google results already turn up that video, but also stuff about Silver Vine. Apparently it's not cat-exclusive so now I'm really curious as to what it tastes like!
